This book gives guidance on the quality of data within a business organization for those with a concern that the potential value of data in the environment is not being realised, and those charged with improving the situation.

Short overviews are given of those aspects of systems and data analysis which are needed for a thorough understanding of the subject. Primarily, the book focuses on why data quality is such a problem, and what can be done to bring the situation under control.

For the systems professional the book will augment a technical understanding of data modelling systems analysis and examples of how things can go wrong when straightforward 'rules' are not followed and will deepen awareness of the political realities behind the problems.

The book offers a series of practical steps to the solution of data quality problems, bearing in mind the need, in most environments, to avoid large costs and business disruption.
